Recyclable Pumps
Sustainable innovation: Pumps designed for easy recycling.
What's in a pump

Plastic lotion pumps are one of the most popular dispensing methods for viscous products in the personal care and beauty industry, and there are many shape and size options. The intention is to dispense the right amount of product every time.

A lotion pump typically contains several parts:
About Me
Collar
The part that holds the actuator and attaches to the closure.
About Me
Closure
The top part of the pump that screws onto the bottle.
About Me
Dip Tube
A tube extending down the pump, drawing up the liquid.
About Me
Gasket
A seal that prevents leakage between the pump and the bottle.
About Me
Piston
Creates pressure to dispense the liquid.
About Me
Spring
Provides force to return pump to original position.
About Me
Valve
Controls the flow of liquid.
About Me
Actuator
The part you press down to dispense the liquid.
When you press the pump, it creates a vacuum that pulls the lotion up through the tube and dispenses it smoothly. The pump is designed to prevent leaks and keep the lotion fresh between uses.
What materials a pump is made of
Pumps are made from a mix of materials, including plastic for the main components, metal for springs, rubber or silicone for seals, and sometimes glass balls for smooth operation. These materials are chosen based on their specific properties and how they contribute to the functionality and longevity of the pump.
Why are pumps hard to recycle
Pumps not being able to be recycled is becoming an increasingly recognised problem in the market. Unlike bottles, plastic pumps are often non-recyclable because they contain materials like metal springs and glass balls that are hard to separate. Mixed materials makes recycling difficult, and many pumps end up in landfills.

When disposing bottles with regular pumps, please separate them before you recycle your bottle.
All-Plastic Pumps are our solution.
All-plastic pumps can help change the negative environmental impacts that pumps have.
Our pumps are solely made from plastic, including the spring and the ball.
Our pumps are made from polypropylene (PP), often considered one of the more easily recyclable plastics in the USA.
Our pump are able to adapt to mainstream plastic recycling processes.
When disposing of our pump bottles, please separate, rinse, and place both the bottle and pump in the recycling to give them a chance at another life!
